Off the Beaten Track – Wyangala was inspired by my time as an artist in residence at The Corridor Project, where I had the opportunity to explore and respond to the surrounding landscape.
Soft eucalyptus greens, muted blues and earthy olive tones come together in a loose, abstract interpretation of the Australian bush. Layered shapes, wandering lines and delicate marks suggest trees, foliage and glimpses of the landscape without describing everything too literally.
Rather than painting a particular view, I wanted to capture something of the feeling of being there — the quiet, the changing light and the unexpected shapes and colours found when you wander off the beaten track.
A gentle, slightly abstract landscape that brings a little of the Australian countryside indoors.
