A loose arrangement of botanical forms emerges against a soft neutral ground, with painted shapes appearing to float, overlap and quietly communicate with one another.
Night Language moves between still life and abstraction, bringing together deep plum, inky blue, olive, warm ochre and chalky white. Some forms suggest petals or leaves, while others remain deliberately ambiguous, painted intuitively and allowed to become something less easily named.
There is a slightly dreamlike quality to the composition, as though familiar plants have been remembered imperfectly and rearranged into their own visual language.
Night Language is one of four original paintings from Something Like Flowers, a small collection exploring remembered, imagined and loosely invented botanical forms.
Finished in a hand-painted timber float frame chosen to sit quietly alongside the work.
Ready to hang.
