An Unnatural History - original framed acrylic painting

Original acrylic painting on canvas
42 × 32 cm framed
Framed in a raw oak float frame

An Unnatural History is a playful take on botanical painting, where familiar floral shapes become something a little more abstract and unexpected.

Deep burgundy, inky blues, warm ochres and flashes of bright yellow come together against a soft, off-white background. Loose, fluid washes of colour suggest petals, leaves and stems, but nothing is quite as it seems.

Inspired by the shapes and forms found in nature, the painting takes a more imaginative approach, allowing colours to wander, overlap and create their own curious arrangement. There's a lovely balance between the delicate, sweeping marks and the stronger, more saturated areas of colour.

A contemporary floral with a slightly unconventional twist, An Unnatural History brings colour, movement and a little intrigue to any space.

Finished in a natural raw oak float frame.
