Original oil painting on canvas 33 × 28 cm Framed in a raw oak float frame
Afternoon Nasturtiums is a cheerful little still life celebrating the simple pleasure of bringing a few flowers indoors.
Two deep red nasturtium blooms sit in a clear glass jar, their bright green stems and rounded leaves creating a lovely contrast against the soft pinks and pale blues of the background.
Painted with loose, expressive brushstrokes, the work has a relaxed, slightly nostalgic feel. The patterned tablecloth, afternoon light and everyday glass jar give the painting a sense of familiarity, like a small moment captured at home.
